Eco Activities Around our School

Grade 5 students completed a unit on weather, they learned about different types of forecasting and how global warming affects the atmosphere and causes weather changes around the world. Imagine Tornadoes with sun.

Kindergarten classes used leaves to help count. Use leaves instead of paper based posters. You can help save the environment an
d learn math at the same time.

Every Friday from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Parkdale is dedicated to turning off the lights in classrooms, hallways, and office spaces. Lights out Parkdale!
Ms. Hamilton, saved the maple sapling from her front yard to be gifted and transplanted at her school.
Here is a poem hung up in our school about trees.

Grade 3 students are writing essays about the life cycle of a plant, They planted seeds and were asked to monitor rheir growth. Some were very big and some didn't even grow. Good job, Guys.

Even the French Intermission students want to help the planet. Tres Excitant

The eco-council loves The Giving Tree. So do the Grade 1's who read this book weeks ago. It's a great book

The grades 7 and 8 students reused old CD/ DVD discs to create a work of art. The colours we used for the colour wheels are the primary and secondary colours. The students drew lines with markers and painted inside each section with acrylic paint based on the colour wheel poster.

The hand print trees were designed by the Grade 1/2 French Immersion classes.  They were part of a kickoff for their learning pathway (Every student has a voice and individual set of experiences and interests that should be recognized and respected). They discussed topics about respect in the classroom, respect  for each other and respect for the environment.

This class is branched together by the love of the Earth.
Our Kindergarten students love to sing as much as we like to care for the environment.

Our little kids find out how much we are wasting.

Kids excited to search for signs of spring

Pretty Kindergarten flowers at our spring fair. They sang  "How does your garden grow".

Kids learn how to use a Vermi composter.
It is the process of composing using worms to create a mixture of decomposing waste.

 "How Does this work?"

 "I'm an Expert!"
